Psicólogo can be spelled psicólogo or sicólogo — the Royal Spanish Academy accepts both, though the ps- spelling is more common in formal writing. The feminine form is psicóloga. A psicólogo clínico holds a clinical licence, while a psicólogo without qualification may have a general research or counselling background.
