Also means
to perch
Usage Note
Posar covers posing for a photograph or painting (posar para un retrato) and a bird or aircraft coming to rest on a surface (el águila posó en la rama). The reflexive posarse emphasises the settling/landing sense. Do not confuse with pausar (to pause/stop) or pesar (to weigh/regret), which differ by just one vowel.
Examples
"La modelo posó durante tres horas."
Natural Translation
The model posed for three hours.
