Usage Note
Obsesionar is most commonly used reflexively — obsesionarse con algo (to become obsessed with something). The non-reflexive form me obsesiona esa idea (that idea obsesses me) follows the same gustar-type construction, with the subject coming after the verb. The noun obsesión and adjective obsesionado/a come from the same root.
Examples
"Se obsesionó con terminar el proyecto."
Natural Translation
He became obsessed with finishing the project.
