nodo

node

noun NOH-doh Rare

Origin: From Latin 'nodus' (knot).

Usage Note

Nodo is used in computing (network node), mathematics (graph theory), botany (the point on a stem where leaves attach), and astronomy (orbital node). In all uses the idea of a 'junction point' is central. The plural nodos is regular. Learners who know the Spanish newsreel brand NO-DO should note that was an acronym (Noticiarios y Documentales), not this word.

Examples

"Cada nodo de la red transmite datos independientemente."

Natural Translation

Each network node transmits data independently.
