monólogo

noun moh-NOH-loh-goh Rare

Origin: Greek monologos (mono- 'alone' + logos 'speech')

Usage Note

In theatre it refers to a speech delivered alone on stage; in everyday Spanish monólogo is also used humorously to describe someone who talks endlessly without letting others respond. The verb form is monologar.
