Usage Note
Mediado almost always appears in the plural fixed phrase a mediados de ('in the middle of', referring to a time period): a mediados de junio (in mid-June). As a standalone noun it is rare; in most contexts it functions as the past participle of mediar used adjectivally. Learners should master the phrase a mediados de as a unit.
