Usage Note
Matutino describes anything belonging to or characteristic of the morning hours, and agrees in gender and number: ejercicio matutino, rutina matutina. It is a formal or literary synonym for de la mañana; everyday Spanish simply says de la mañana. In journalism el matutino is used as a noun to mean 'morning newspaper', contrasting with el vespertino ('evening newspaper').
