Usage Note
Leña means wood that has been cut or gathered for burning, distinct from madera (timber/wood as a material for building or crafting). The idiom echar leña al fuego ('to add fuel to the fire') means to make a bad situation worse. Leñador is the person who chops wood, and leñera is the woodshed.
Examples
"Necesitamos más leña para la chimenea."
Natural Translation
We need more firewood for the fireplace.
