Usage Note

Invitado is the past participle of invitar used as a noun, inflecting for gender: el invitado, la invitada, los invitados. In media Spanish, invitado especial (special guest) is a set phrase. Do not confuse with huésped, which specifically means a lodging guest or overnight house guest — a distinction that often trips up English speakers.
