Usage Note

Infiel means unfaithful in a personal relationship (ser infiel = to cheat on a partner) and historically denoted a non-believer or infidel in a religious context. The same form is used for both genders. As a noun, un infiel can mean a cheater or (historically) a non-believer. The antonym is fiel.
