Usage Note
Futuro is masculine as a noun (el futuro) and as an adjective (un proyecto futuro). In grammar it refers to the future tense. The phrase en el futuro ('in the future') is common, but note that Spanish often uses en un futuro próximo ('in the near future') where English would say 'soon'. The compound futuro anterior is the future perfect tense.
