Usage Note
Fraccionado describes a process or substance that has been separated into fractions, most commonly in destilación fraccionada (fractional distillation) used to refine crude oil. The word is the past participle of fraccionar used adjectivally. In finance and mathematics fraccionado can also mean 'broken into fractional parts', but the industrial chemistry sense is dominant in technical texts.
