Usage Note
Fracaso denotes a complete failure or flop, stronger than mere fallo (fault/slip). The verb is fracasar (to fail, to flop). A useful idiom is fracaso escolar, the technical term for school dropout or academic underachievement used in educational policy. Do not confuse with fractura (fracture) — similar letters, very different meaning.
Examples
"El proyecto fue un fracaso total."
Natural Translation
The project was a total failure.
