Usage Note
Existente is a formal adjective used to describe something already in place, as in la normativa existente ('the existing regulation'). It is not as common in everyday speech as actual (meaning 'current,' not 'actual' — another false friend) or vigente ('currently in force'). It functions as an invariable adjective in gender but agrees in number: los recursos existentes.
