Usage Note
Eternidad is frequently used hyperbolically in everyday speech: esperé una eternidad ('I waited an eternity'). In theology it contrasts with tiempo (time) as the divine, timeless state. The related adjective is eterno/eterna, and the adverb eternamente. Do not confuse with inmortalidad ('immortality'), which implies continued existence rather than timelessness.
Examples
"La espera se hizo una eternidad."
Natural Translation
The wait felt like an eternity.
