Usage Note

Esterlino is used almost exclusively in the fixed phrase libra esterlina (pound sterling), the currency of the United Kingdom. As a standalone adjective it has no productive everyday use. The adjective follows the noun (libra esterlina) and agrees in number: the plural is libras esterlinas.
