Duque is the Spanish noble title equivalent to 'duke'. The feminine form is duquesa ('duchess'). Below it in the hierarchy come marqués, conde, vizconde, and barón. In modern Spanish it also appears in place names (e.g. Duque de Alba) and as a common surname.
