Usage Note
Doctora is the feminine form of doctor. In formal address it is abbreviated Dra. (versus Dr. for men). In Spain and Latin America doctora is used both for medical doctors and for holders of a doctoral degree — context clarifies which is meant. Using the masculine doctor to address a woman doctor is now considered impolite in most registers.
