Usage Note
Doctor is used both as a medical title and as an academic title (PhD). The feminine is doctora. In everyday speech médico/médica is the common word for a medical doctor, while doctor/doctora can sound more formal or be used as a term of address. In Latin America both forms are used interchangeably in conversation.
