Usage Note

Distribuir is a stem-changing verb of the construir group: the i becomes y before a, e, o (e.g. distribuyo, distribuye). It covers both the physical delivery of goods and the spreading of content (e.g. distribuir un comunicado). The noun form distribución and agent noun distribuidor are common in commerce. Not to be confused with repartir, which often implies dividing shares equally.
