Usage Note

Cuadro literally means 'square' but its most common everyday meanings are 'painting' or 'picture' on a wall, and a 'table' or 'chart' of data. It also describes a theatrical or sports 'scene' or 'team' in some Latin American countries. In medicine, cuadro clínico means a clinical picture. The grid-patterned fabric design (tela de cuadros) also borrows the word.
