Comunal describes resources, spaces, or decisions belonging to or managed by a community — tierra comunal (communal land), vida comunal (communal life). In Latin America it often refers to indigenous community governance structures. It is invariable in gender (same form for masculine and feminine): el espacio comunal, la tierra comunal.
