Ceño denotes the frown or scowl itself — the expression of displeasure made by furrowing the brow — and is almost always encountered in the fixed phrase fruncir el ceño ('to frown', literally 'to wrinkle the brow'). Using ceño alone is understood but uncommon outside that phrase. It is a masculine noun.
