Usage Note
Capitanía refers to the rank or office of a captain, or to the building/institution that houses a military captain's command (capitanía general, the headquarters of a military region). In Spain, the Capitanía General was historically the supreme military authority of each region. In sports, it sometimes informally means the captaincy of a team.
