Usage Note
Autoritario describes a person, government, or style that demands unquestioning obedience and allows little individual freedom. It differs from autoritativo (authoritative, commanding respect through expertise), a distinction that matters in political and pedagogical contexts. The noun form is autoritarismo (authoritarianism).
