aspecto

aspect

noun ahs-PEK-toh Less Common

Also means

appearance

Usage Note

Aspecto covers both the physical appearance of something (tiene buen aspecto = 'it looks good') and a facet or angle of a topic (el aspecto económico). In grammar, Spanish verbal aspect (imperfect vs preterite) is called aspecto verbal. Note that Spanish uses aspecto freely for physical looks, where English would more often say 'looks' than 'aspect'.

Examples

"El aspecto del edificio es moderno."

Natural Translation

The appearance of the building is modern.
