Asociar is a regular -ar verb and is often used reflexively: asociarse con means 'to partner with' or 'to join forces with' in business or social contexts. In cognitive usage, asociar una imagen con una palabra ('to associate an image with a word') is standard in educational Spanish. The derived noun asociación ('association, organization') is extremely common in formal registers.
