Arranque comes from arrancar ('to start', 'to uproot') and covers both the mechanical starting of an engine (motor de arranque = starter motor) and a sudden emotional outburst (un arranque de rabia = a fit of rage). It can also describe a sudden burst of inspiration or energy. The initial rr is pronounced with a trill.
