Usage Note

Aperitivo refers both to a pre-meal alcoholic drink (vermouth, sherry) and the light snacks served alongside it. In Spain the pre-lunch aperitivo ritual is a social institution; in Latin America the term is used more loosely for any pre-dinner drink. The plural is regular: aperitivos.
