Ambiguo describes language, situations, or people that can be interpreted in more than one way. The noun is ambigüedad — note the ü (diaeresis) required to preserve the hard 'g' sound before e/i. The feminine form is ambigua. In Spanish, it is used in formal and everyday speech equally freely.
