Also means
to insulate
Usage Note
Aislar has an irregular stress pattern in certain forms: aíslo, aíslas, aísla, aíslan all carry a written accent on the 'i' to break the diphthong. This makes it a verb learners often misspell. Aislarse (reflexive) means to cut oneself off from others. In building contexts, aislar means to insulate thermally or acoustically.
Examples
"Es importante aislar bien la casa del frío."
Natural Translation
It is important to properly insulate the house from the cold.
