vía

way, route, means

noun BEE-ah Common

Origin: From Latin via ('road, way').

Also means

track, lane

Usage Note

Vía retains its Latin form almost unchanged. It appears in transport (railway vía), communication (por vía telefónica — 'by phone'), and as a preposition meaning 'via' (vuelo vía Madrid). In cities, vía can be part of a street name (e.g. Vía Laietana in Barcelona). Note the written accent, which marks stress on the first syllable.

Examples

"Llegaremos vía tren."

We-will-arrive via train.
