vibración

vibration

noun bee-brah-SYOHN Rare

Origin: From Latin 'vibratio', from 'vibrare' (to shake).

Usage Note

Vibración covers both physical oscillation (vibración mecánica, vibración sonora) and the informal/New Age use of 'vibes' (buena vibración, good vibes — also popularized by the anglicism vibra). The plural vibraciones is standard. Note that vibración takes a written accent on the ó because it ends in -n but the stress falls on the last syllable.

Examples

"Sentí la vibración del motor bajo mis pies."

Natural Translation

I felt the vibration of the engine under my feet.
