Usage Note

Tutor covers both an academic tutor and a legal guardian (tutor legal), a double meaning English also shares. The feminine is tutora. In the Spanish education system a tutor is also the homeroom teacher responsible for a class's pastoral care, which differs from a private tutor (profesor particular).
