squash
squash (sport)
noun SKWAHSH Rare
Origin: An English loanword adopted directly into Spanish.
Usage Note
Squash is used as an invariable masculine noun in Spanish for the racket sport. It is not italicised in standard Spanish sports writing because it has been fully assimilated. The plural is also squash (invariable). Do not confuse with English 'squash' meaning a vegetable, which would be calabaza in Spanish.
Examples
"Juega al squash tres veces por semana."
Natural Translation
He plays squash three times a week.
