Usage Note
Sarta literally means a string of objects threaded together (like beads or sausages), but its most common current use is figurative: una sarta de mentiras = a string of lies, una sarta de insultos = a torrent of insults. It nearly always appears in this idiomatic construction with a following de + noun. Using it for a literal string of beads is now rare outside regional or literary registers.
Examples
"Dijo una sarta de mentiras sin ruborizarse."
Natural Translation
He rattled off a string of lies without blushing.
