Resucitar is used both transitively (resucitar a alguien — to bring someone back to life) and intransitively (resucitó al tercer día — he rose on the third day). It is the standard verb in religious contexts for the Resurrection. Figuratively it applies to reviving anything — a tradition, a career, or a relationship — that seemed finished.
