Resistir can take a direct object (resistir el dolor) or be followed by an infinitive (no pudo resistir reír). The reflexive resistirse a means 'to refuse' or 'to be reluctant': me resisto a creerlo (I refuse to believe it). It is a regular -ir verb with no stem change.
