Radial means 'radial' in the geometric or anatomical sense — extending outward from a centre, like spokes from a hub. In much of Latin America it is also the everyday adjective for anything relating to radio broadcasting (emisora radial, radio station), whereas Spain prefers radiofónico. A carretera radial is a road running outward from a city centre.
