punible
punishable
adjective poo-NEE-bleh Rare
Origin: From Latin punibilis, from punire (to punish).
Usage Note
Punible is strictly a legal adjective describing an act that is liable to criminal punishment — conducta punible, delito punible. It is invariable in gender and takes -s in the plural. It should not be confused with the more colloquial castigable (deserving punishment in a non-legal sense); punible always implies the possibility of formal legal sanction.
Examples
"El fraude fiscal es una conducta punible."
Natural Translation
Tax fraud is a punishable offence.
