Usage Note
Propio placed before the noun is an intensifier meaning 'one's own' or 'the very': mi propio coche (my own car), el propio ministro lo dijo (the minister himself said it). After the noun it means 'characteristic of': un sabor propio de la región (a flavour characteristic of the region). It should not be confused with apropiado (appropriate).
