Usage Note

Pino refers to the pine tree and also to the timber from it. In gymnastics and circus contexts, el pino is a handstand (the body upright like a pine tree). The colloquial phrase vivir en el quinto pino (to live at the fifth pine) means to live in the back of beyond — very far away.
