Usage Note

Parricida is a common-gender noun — the same form covers both male and female perpetrators, distinguished only by the article: el parricida (m.) and la parricida (f.). It denotes someone who murders a parent or close relative. The act itself is parricidio. It should not be confused with patricida (father-killer specifically).
