stopped
Usage Note
Parado as a noun or adjective meaning 'unemployed' is primarily a Spain usage — in Latin America desempleado is more common. As an adjective it also means 'still' or 'standing still' (El coche está parado — the car is stopped). The feminine form is parada. Do not use parado to mean 'stopped' when referring to a person in most of Latin America, where it paradoxically means 'standing up.'
