Usage Note
Nevada (feminine noun) refers to a snowfall or snow event, not a permanent snow cover (nieve covers both the substance and the weather). Don't confuse it with the US state — which takes the same spelling — or with nevado (adjective: snow-capped), as in pico nevado. A related verb is nevar ('to snow'), e.g. está nevando.
Examples
"La nevada sorprendió a los conductores."
Natural Translation
The snowfall caught the drivers off guard.
