Usage Note
Moda is nearly always feminine and used in the singular for 'fashion' as a concept (la moda española). The phrase estar de moda ('to be in fashion/trendy') is very high-frequency. A la moda means 'fashionable' or, in culinary contexts borrowed from French, 'à la mode'. The adjective moderno is a false friend to watch: it means modern, not necessarily fashionable.
Examples
"El vestido rojo está de moda este verano."
Natural Translation
The red dress is in fashion this summer.
