menudo
small, tiny
adjective meh-NOO-doh Less Common
Origin: From Latin minutus (small, minute).
Also means
frequent (in 'a menudo')
Usage Note
Menudo as a standalone adjective means tiny or slight (una menuda diferencia = a tiny difference). However its overwhelmingly common use in modern Spanish is in the fixed phrase a menudo (often, frequently) — a menudo llueve = it often rains. As an exclamative, ¡menudo lío! means 'what a mess!' In Mexico and the Caribbean, menudo is also a tripe stew, a famous Sunday dish.
Examples
