Usage Note
Loma describes a gentle, elongated hill or low ridge — smaller than a montaña (mountain) but more extended than a colina (small round hill). It is feminine and common in Latin American place names and rural descriptions. In Spain loma is also used but colina is more frequent for a rounded hillock.
