Limpio uses estar to describe a current state ('it is clean right now') and ser in a more general or character sense ('he is a clean person'). The feminine is limpia. A related idiom is en limpio: pasar en limpio means to make a fair copy of a draft, and sacar en limpio means to get something useful out of a situation.
