Usage Note
Liderazgo is a 20th-century coinage blending the English word líder (itself a loanword) with the native suffix -azgo. It has fully displaced older liderato in most registers. Ejercer el liderazgo (to exercise leadership) is a common formal collocation. The RAE also accepts liderato but liderazgo dominates in journalism and business.
